Author: Cees Nooteboom (1933) is a Dutch writer. In 1955 he released his debut 'Philip en de anderen' for which he received the Anne Frank Prize. A year later he wrote his first great journalistic article for Het Parool. At the end of the fifties he began to write travel stories for Elsevier and from 1961 he was editor of the newspaper De Volkskrant. For his most famous book 'Rituals' Nooteboom received the Ferdinand Bordewijk Prize, and the book was filmed starring Derek de Lint and Thom Hoffman as main characters.


Illustrator: Jan Vanriet (1948) is a Dutch painter, his work can be seen in many museums worldwide. Vanriet also writes and publishes Collections of poetry. Jan Vanriet lives and works in Antwerp and Provence. Since 1987 Jan Vanriet has designed theatre decors, drew posters and realized many murals like in the restored Bourla theatre and for De Brouckère metro station in Brussels from around 210 metres long. In 2001, he received the 'Van Acker Prijs'. Vanriet started an intensive collaboration with author Cees Nooteboom, which led to the publication of two books and this MatchBoox.
